Bougouriba/bondigui: The Bondigui sub-section of the Center for Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) organized a collective breaking of the fast on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the home of one of its members as part of its Ramadan activities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, on this 24th day of the Muslim fast, members, activists, sympathizers, and supporters of CERFI gathered in a spirit of fraternity and sharing around a breaking-the-fast meal. The Secretary General of the Bondigui sub-section, Abdoulaye Traore, mentioned that these meetings are part of the structure's program of activities during the blessed month of Ramadan.
"These joint breakings of the fast aim to bring members and supporters together around the values of solidarity, sharing and brotherhood by coming to break the fast at a brother's house," he explained. He highlighted that offering food to someone who is fasting to break their fast is a highly meritorious act in Islam, emphasizing that the month of Ramadan is a time for seeking blessings and multiplying good deeds.
These collective gatherings also serve as an opportunity to strengthen cohesion and fraternity among members, consolidating community bonds. A theme related to Ramadan teachings is explored at each meeting to deepen participants' religious knowledge. In this session, the theme was Zakat al-Fitr, a charitable donation recommended by the Prophet for needy Muslims to celebrate Ramadan with dignity.
Participants were informed about the procedures, objectives, and beneficiaries of Zakat al-Fitr, which must be paid a few days before Eid al-Fitr. The host, primary school inspector B¨ma Ouattara, expressed honor in hosting the faithful, noting that such initiatives foster mutual understanding and deepen religious practice.
"These moments not only allow us to share a meal, but also to learn more about our religion and strengthen our faith," he said. Through these activities, the CERFI sub-section of Bondigui aims to continue promoting solidarity, fraternity, and religious education within the community.
