KOUDOUGOU - In a significant effort to bolster the presence of the Central West region in Burkina Faso’s prestigious Galian Awards, the Central West Regional Directorate of Communication and Media hosted its inaugural consultation session on June 21, 2024. The event, presided over by the regional governor Boubacar Nouhoun Traoré, aimed to educate local media professionals on the Private Press Support Fund (FAPP) and the Galian Awards.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional director of Communication and Media, the Central West has notably lacked representation in the Galian Awards. This inaugural session marked a pivotal step towards reversing this trend by enlightening the media stakeholders about the critical texts governing the FAPP and the Galian Awards. The session’s theme, "Support and reward in the journalistic world in Burkina Faso: what to understand about the FAPP and the Galian Prizes?", highlighted the urgency to engage more actively in these initiatives.
The event featured in-depth presentations by Ag Ibrahim Mohamed, CEO of FAPP, and Adama Sawadogo, director of events and advertising. Their insights into the recent innovations by the ministry responsible for Communication captivated the audience, leading to discussions that deepened the understanding of these topics.
Governor Boubacar Nouhoun Traoré, overseeing the workshop's opening, called for increased enthusiasm and striving for excellence among the media practitioners. He commended the ministry’s support and the media professionals’ diligent work, urging them to intensify their efforts for the upcoming Galian Prizes.
This consultation not only facilitated a comprehensive dialogue around the presentations but also provided a platform for media professionals to express their editorial concerns, setting a foundation for future achievements in the Galian Awards.
