OUAGADOUGOU – Governor Abdoulaye Bassinga of the Central region announced on Friday that measures are being taken to boost the execution rate of the 2024 stabilization and development action plan. This follows a performance assessment showing only 28.91% of the plan was completed in the first half of the year, notably below the anticipated 50% target.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the shortfall in execution is due to a variety of challenges, including complex security and humanitarian issues facing the region. Despite these hurdles, he expressed optimism for significant progress in the latter half of the year, citing a series of planned activities that are expected to accelerate development efforts. The mid-2024 review held in Ouagadougou highlighted that while state reform within the action plan has nearly reached its target with a 90.91% completion rate, other areas lag behind and require more focused attention.
Governor Bassinga further detailed upcoming initiatives, including the introduction of 97 new projects backed by over 21.27 billion FCFA in funding, aimed at addressing both immediate and long-term challenges. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to enhance regional growth and improve the quality of life for the local population, aligning with broader national economic and social goals.
