Mogt©do: On the night of December 31, 2024, the Governor of the Central Plateau region, Mrs. Sy Ass©tou Barry/Traor©, traveled to Mogt©do, 85 km east of Ouagadougou, to galvanize the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). This trip aimed to salute their commitment and their important contribution to the security of the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on this symbolic night, Governor Sy Ass©tou Barry/Traor© initiated an outing to express the desire of the regional authorities to strengthen proximity with the combat forces engaged on the ground. Arriving at around 9 p.m. at the Mogt©do gendarmerie brigade, Ms. Sy Ass©tou Barry/Traor© and her delegation were warmly welcomed by a strong mobilization of local combat forces, including gendarmes, police officers, soldiers, water and forestry agents, and VDP.

Addressing the forces on the ground directly, the governor informed them that the population and the authorities support them and pray for them so that 2025 marks the end of terrorism in Burkina Faso. “I came to thank you and convey the government’s thanks for the remarkable work you have accomplished in 2024. It is thanks to your vigilance that people can continue to go about their business,” she said.

She also expressed hope for an imminent victory against terrorism. “We see that on the ground, fear has changed sides. With the commitment of our top leaders and your determination, we know that 2025 will be the year of the total victory of the Burkinabe over the forces of evil,” she added.

The fighting forces, through their representatives, welcomed this visit, which they considered comforting. While reaffirming their commitment, they expressed the need for reinforcement in equipment and rolling stock to better face security challenges.

After about thirty minutes of discussion, the governor and his delegation returned to Ziniar©, the regional capital. On the way, part of the delegation led by the High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, stopped in the village of Kougri.
