Center-East Region to Secure and Pave Tenkodogo-Ouargaye Axis Amid Security Challenges


TENKODOGO — The governor of the Center-East region, Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, announced on Saturday plans to secure the Tenkodogo-Ouargaye axis for traffic resumption and subsequent asphalting, in response to the current security challenges.



According to Burkina Information Agency, During a ceremony for food delivery and fundraising for the fighting forces, Governor Lamizana declared the imminent reopening of the route, which has been frequently targeted by terrorist attacks. The 56-kilometer stretch, critically influenced by terrorist activities, is set for major security enhancements and infrastructure improvements. “With the defense and security forces (FDS), we are taking strong measures: Tenkodogo-Ouargaye will be reopened very soon,” he stated, adding that a tender process to select a company for asphalting the road has already been initiated. Governor Lamizana expressed his commitment to securing and paving the road as part of broader efforts to ensure accessibility throughout the Center-East region, attributing the country’s resilience to the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré and his administration’s decisive actions.
