Ouagadougou: Commander Yves Bambara, head of the training division for the Brigade of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (BVDP), made a significant visit to the communes of Yargo and Koup©la in Kouritenga province to inspire and commend the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their relentless efforts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Commander Bambara acknowledged the dedication and sacrifices made by the volunteers, which have been instrumental in resettling certain villages throughout the territory. His visit aimed to convey the gratitude of the Volunteer Brigade's leadership and to encourage the volunteers to sustain their commitment in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
Commander Bambara emphasized the VDPs' critical role in national defense, stating, "The purpose of my visit to Yargo and Koup©la stems from the fact that the VDPs are very committed to the fight against terrorism. It is with this in mind that the hierarchy, at the level of the Volunteer Brigade for the Defense of the Homeland (BVDP), has tasked us, as part of the local command, to come and express its satisfaction with the VDPs and to urge them to maintain the same level of commitment to the total reconquest of the territory."
The visit was warmly received by the volunteers, boosting their morale. Commander Bambara listened to their concerns and assured them that these would be relayed to higher authorities for prompt attention. He also advised the volunteers to remain vigilant against misinformation and to steer clear of gambling.
The deputy delegate of the VDP, MB, expressed relief and motivation, stating, "It's a welcome visit. Of course, we're supervised by coordinators, but when the hierarchy listens to you, it's a sigh of relief. Our grievances concern a number of needs. But we understand the situation. The commander promised us, by the grace of God, that everything will get better. A fighter needs the moral support of his superiors. They came to listen to us, and that motivates us."
The visit highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the volunteers and reinforced the importance of support and communication between the VDP and their leadership.
