Center-East Burkina Faso Governor Alerts to Sleeper Cell Presence

TENKODOGO, Burkina Faso – Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, the governor of Burkina Faso’s Center-East region, issued a warning on Saturday about the presence of sleeper cells of terrorist groups in all cities under his jurisdiction, calling on the public for assistance in dismantling them.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Lamizana emphasized the critical situation in Tenkodogo and surrounding towns, asserting the necessity of public cooperation to effectively address and neutralize these threats.

Colonel Lamizana, who was speaking to the organizers of the support meeting, stressed the importance of cutting off the supply chains that enable these terrorist groups to operate. He pointed out that despite the ongoing efforts, there are still individuals within the community who provide fuel and other resources to these groups, thereby undermining security efforts.

The governor’s appeal wasn’t solely focused on logistical support; he urged the populace to play a proactive role by reporting any suspicious activities to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). Lamizana highlighted that supporting the President of the Transition and the broader security efforts involves more than just frontline engagement but also active vigilance and reporting by the citizenry.

In a show of solidarity and support for the Transition in the Center-East region, attendees of the day’s event collected over 4 tons of food and 7 million 279,000 CFA francs. Governor Lamizana received these contributions and promptly handed them over to the regional FDS, underscoring the collective effort required to combat terrorism and maintain security in the region.
