CEB of Thiou: Cultural and Sporting Activities Concluded in Grand Style

Ouahigouya: The 2025-2026 cultural and sporting activities of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Thiou were closed on Saturday, May 9, on a note of renewed patriotic commitment, hope, and resilience, AIB observed on site. The closing ceremony of these activities, which took place in Ouahigouya, was presided over by the President of the special delegation of Thiou, Boureima Ou©draogo, and was sponsored by Mr. Ess©b© Ouarm©.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event marked the culmination of three months of healthy competition among learners participating in various sporting and cultural disciplines. This initiative was part of an effort to integrate sport and culture within the primary school curriculum.

Marcelin Ou©draogo, the Head of the CEB, emphasized that sport and culture play a critical role in instilling discipline, order, and respect among students. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of education stakeholders and social partners within the Thiou CEB to sustain this progress and nurture a more responsible youth population.

Boureima Ou©draogo, the PDS of Thiou, remarked that these activities align with the RPP manifesto, which advocates for a revival of indigenous cultural values. He asserted that sport and culture are instrumental in awakening talents and promoting values such as peace, solidarity, and community cohesion.

Adama Sawadogo, Chairman of the organizing committee, along with his team, commended the dedication of all participants who contributed to the successful conclusion of the sporting and cultural season in the CEB of Thiou. The event featured a football final where the Gondologo site team triumphed over the Gourga team with a 1-0 victory. Awards, both monetary and in-kind, were presented to the top teams and groups from the CEB's satellite schools.
