Sapouy: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Sapouy officially launched its sports and cultural activities for the 2025-2026 school year on Wednesday at the Tiabien-Kasso public primary school, a locality located about twenty kilometers from the town of Sapouy.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of Sapouy, Ourobe Dioma, and took place in a festive and convivial atmosphere. It was attended by educational authorities, pedagogical supervisors, teachers, customary and religious authorities, students, as well as a highly mobilized population.
Under the theme "Sport and Culture: Levers for Developing Responsible Citizens," this edition aims to highlight the importance of sport and culture as essential pillars of a holistic education for learners.
In his address, the Head of the Sapouy Basic Education District (CCEB), Camille Diasso, expressed his gratitude to all those involved in promoting sports and cultural activities within the district. He encouraged participants to cultivate solidarity, discipline, and fair play throughout the competitions, which include more than forty sporting events. The CCEB also expressed its best wishes for the success of these activities, with the final stages expected by the end of April 2026.
In turn, the PDS, Ourobe Dioma, expressed his delight at the successful implementation of these activities, emphasizing that they demonstrate the fundamental role of schools in the human, moral, and civic development of students. He urged the students to engage with enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship, while making sport and culture frameworks for learning, fraternity, and mutual respect.
The official launch was marked by a parade of students, followed by an opening football match between the host school of Tiabien-Kasso and the school of Faro. The match ended in a victory for the Faro team with a score of one goal to zero.
A highlight of the ceremony was the performance of traditional Nuni dance (the nabonon) by the village of Tiabien-Kasso, known for its attachment to cultural values. The village treated the audience to a performance of this dance, brilliantly executed by men, women, and guests.
Through these sporting and cultural activities, the CEB of Sapouy reaffirms its commitment to promoting a civic-minded, inclusive school that embodies social values.
