CCP-Séno Unveils Significant Social Security Innovations for State Public Employees.

DORI: The provincial consultation framework (CCP) of Séno convened its third ordinary session of the year in Dori, focusing on elucidating major innovations in the social security system for state public employees and enhancing awareness of UNICEF's missions. The meeting, held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, aimed to inform CCP members about the significant changes in legislation affecting public sector workers in Burkina Faso. According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner of Séno province, Mr. Wulfran Émilie Firmin Bamas, outlined the session's primary aim: to discuss law n°003-2021/AN, enacted on April 1, 2021. This law pertains to the social security system for state public agents, detailing its innovations and UNICEF's role in the region. The regional director of Labor and Social Protection of the Sahel, Mr. Nicaise Badolo, explained that the key change involves consolidating all branches managed by the Autonomous Civil Servants' Pension Fund (CARFO) into a single, more accessible docume nt. This consolidation aims to streamline processes and improve accessibility for public employees. Mr. Badolo further highlighted that the expanded social security system now includes parliamentary civil servants, workers in local authorities, and employees in establishments not covered by the Labour Code. Additional innovations include options for repurchasing missing years of contributions, introducing a disability pension for accidents, and increasing pension amounts. The definition of workplace accidents has also been broadened and capped, providing more comprehensive coverage for public sector employees. In addition, the head of the UNICEF office in Dori, Mr. Gervais Ouattara, shared insights into the organization's activities. UNICEF's efforts in education, health, and development contributions were presented, showcasing their ongoing commitment to improving conditions in the region.
