ADDIS ABABA: The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) launched an application called itsmydam, designed to enable Ethiopians and those of Ethiopian descent in the diaspora to contribute to the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the application was developed to facilitate global contributions to the dam's construction. The launch event, held in collaboration with the Office of National Coordination for the Construction of GERD, highlighted the Bank's role in national development. Foreign Affairs State Minister, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, noted that diplomatic and public advocacy efforts have helped counter negative narratives about the dam. She expressed gratitude to Ethiopians at home and abroad for their support and encouraged further contributions through the new application. Dr. Aregawi Berhe, head of the Office of National Coordination for the Construction of GERD, also called for continued assistance until the dam's completion, emphasizing the application's significance in mobilizing diaspora support.
