Catholic Parishioners Embark on Peace Pilgrimage in Burkina Faso

Kourittenga: Catholic parishioners of Saint Joseph Parish in Gounghin made a pilgrimage this Sunday, March 15, 2026, to Dapelgo Hill, a village in the rural commune of Gounghin, filled with adoration and prayer for peace in Burkina Faso. The Mass was presided over by Father Roger Koudougou, accompanied by catechists and Catholic faithful from various parts of the parish.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the pilgrimage was described by Father Roger Koudougou as a walk of faith and prayer. He emphasized the act of celebrating Mass on the hill as a supplication to God, praying for peace in Burkina Faso and requesting graces for cohesion and communal harmony. The priest encouraged the youth to embrace their potential and pursue their projects with divine guidance.

The pilgrimage served not only as a spiritual journey but also as an opportunity for the faithful to express their commitment to their faith and demonstrate love for the Lord. Paul Gnada, president of the Gounghin parish youth group, expressed his joy in participating and called for tolerance, solidarity, and love of neighbor to foster peace and unity.

Catechist Paul Tougma, also a participant in the pilgrimage, urged people of all religious affiliations to join in praying for peace and strengthening cohesion in Burkina Faso, echoing the sentiments shared during the pilgrimage.
