KANGUNDO — Thousands of Catholic pilgrims convened at the Komarock Shrine in Kangundo, Machakos County, on Saturday for a day of prayer and reflection, marking the annual pilgrimage that draws participants from various regions.

According to Kenya News Agency, who led the day-long prayers, the event saw a significant turnout, including key leaders such as Governor Wavinya Ndeti. During his homily, Bishop King'oo emphasized the virtues of patience and tolerance among Kenyans, especially in the face of the current economic challenges. "I call on Kenyans not to be quick to anger. When we become upset, we may end up making mistakes that can destroy the country," King'oo articulated, highlighting the importance of maintaining peace and unity.

The Bishop further encouraged the faithful to pray for the nation as it contends with difficult economic conditions. He also appealed to leaders to advocate for Kenyan rights through established governance structures, noting the crucial role elected officials play in protecting the interests of their constituents during challenging times.

"Kenyans are looking up to the leaders they elected because they are their representatives, and they should not let things get out of hand," the Rt. Rev. King'oo stated, underscoring the expectations placed on leaders to act responsibly and effectively in their roles.

In his address, Bishop King'oo called upon the government to expedite the provision of affordable and quality healthcare services, pointing out the hardships faced by the majority of Kenyans in accessing medical care.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti, in her remarks, committed to fulfilling the promises made during her electoral campaign, pledging to govern transparently and ensure the prudent use of resources.
