Boulgou: Catholic Christians cleaned the Bittou cemetery on Saturday, October 25, 2025, on the occasion of the annual sanitation day organized by the Saint Jean Baptiste parish of Bittou. From 7 a.m., Christian worshippers armed with daba, brooms, and wheelbarrows stormed the cemetery to weed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event is an annual tradition held a week before All Saints' Day. The aim is to protect graves from bushfires and rehabilitate those in disrepair. This effort is part of paying tribute to the departed.
Pierre Nokane, a faithful Christian, mentioned that a day of prayer is planned for November 2 in memory of their predecessors. Mr. Nokane acknowledged the strong participation of Christians in the event. Norbert Nare, another believer, emphasized that cleaning cemeteries is seen as a gesture of gratitude to the deceased.
