Cascades Region Artists Present Awards to Governor After National Culture Week Success

CASCADES — Local artists and performers from the Cascades region celebrated their achievements from the 21st National Culture Week by presenting their awards to Governor Florent Badabouè Bazie. The ceremony highlighted the region’s success across multiple categories in this national event.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Regional Director of Culture, Arts, and Tourism, the Cascades region was honored in several categories during the competition. Notably, Catherine Soulama excelled in the culinary art category, securing two special prizes—one from the fund for cultural and tourist development and another from an economic operator in the great west. In the arts and entertainment segment, Ibrahim Traoré, known as Babandjida, claimed third place in the star of traditional song category. The young ballet pool category saw the Farafina troupe also taking third place, further bringing pride to the region.



During the presentation, Malgoubri conveyed the gratitude of all the winners to the governor and the regional administrative authorities for their support throughout the event’s preparations and rehearsals. Governor Bazie, in his remarks, commended the participants for their outstanding representation of the Cascades region. He encouraged all artists and troupes to aspire to even greater achievements in future editions of the National Culture Week.



The governor also reiterated his commitment to support the ongoing efforts of the region’s cultural representatives. The Cascades region’s participation included 7 artistic ensembles, 2 culinary art specialists, and 7 wrestlers, showcasing a broad and talented representation at the national event.
