Casablanca Hosts Choiseul Africa Business Forum 2023 Focusing on Economic Sovereignty

Casablanca – The 4th Choiseul Africa Business Forum is set to convene in Casablanca on November 16 and 17, marking its second consecutive year in Morocco’s economic hub. This year’s forum, under the theme of Africa’s economic sovereignty, aims to foster Afro-European dialogue and innovation exchange.

According to Africa News Agency, Chairman of Choiseul Africa, the forum celebrates Africa’s potential and future, bringing together the best of African and European innovation. The event is expected to draw more than 800 decision-makers and leaders from Africa, Europe, and the Gulf, discussing issues pivotal to the continent’s growth and independence. It represents a network of 700 Choiseul 100 Africa laureates and alumni spanning 49 African countries.

This year’s forum will spotlight Benin and its industrial revolution. An “Invest in Benin” panel will explore investment opportunities within the country, highlighting major infrastructure projects in energy, mobility, and water. Benin’s economy, traditionally reliant on exporting unprocessed agricultural products and re-exporting imported goods to Nigeria, is undergoing a transformation under President Patrice Talon’s leadership. A notable development is the Glo-Djigbé industrial complex near Cotonou, expected to become a key economic powerhouse for Benin.

The forum will also feature panels on public-private partnerships (PPPs) and interregional cooperation, emphasizing the potential of PPPs at national and local levels for significant infrastructure and network management projects. These discussions, in partnership with the Casablanca-Settat region, highlight the strategic importance of regional development through collaborative efforts.

Additionally, the forum will host a book signing by Jérôme Hénique, CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa, for the publication of “African Digital Champions 2023.” The Choiseul Africa awards ceremony, launched in 2022, will honor economic and social contributors to the continent in various categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Woman Leader of the Year, Innovative Project of the Year, Digital Talent of the Year, and the Grand Prix Choiseul Africa.

The Choiseul Africa Business Forum 2023 stands as a pivotal meeting point for leaders and innovators, driving forward discussions on Africa’s path to economic sovereignty and its evolving role on the global stage.
