BUNGOMA: Excitement and anticipation marked the commencement of this year’s County Assembly Sports Association (CASA) games, which unite County Assembly Members from across Kenya in a series of sporting events. The games, held at the Masinde Muliro grounds in Bungoma County, aim to promote unity and camaraderie among the nation’s County Assemblies.
According to Kenya News Agency, the three-day championship, themed “Fostering Inclusivity and Diversity in County Sports and Cultural Events,” features representation from all 47 counties in Kenya. Participants are competing in various sports, including football, volleyball, pool, and athletics. The vibrant opening ceremony included a parade of participants in traditional attire, highlighting the cultural diversity of the counties.
Peter Imwatok, Chairman of the CASA Games Organising Committee, and Philemon Sabulei, Chairperson of the County Assemblies Forum (CAF) and Speaker of the Elgeyo-Marakwet County Assembly, praised the initiative for fostering unity and c
ollaboration among County Assembly members. The first day’s activities were marked by competitive spirit as teams showcased their skills on the field, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.
The games have succeeded in fulfilling their primary aim of fostering friendship and strengthening bonds among County Assembly members. The event highlighted the importance of sports in building relationships and facilitating networking among Kenya’s devolved units. As the games progress, participants are already looking forward to next year’s event, further exemplifying the spirit of unity and collaboration among Kenya’s county assemblies.
