Bengo: Gildo Crist³vo, the head of the Bengo Tourism Department, reported that the recent Carnival parade in Bengo province attracted more than 2,000 national and foreign tourists.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the parade witnessed a total attendance of over 50,000 spectators, including the aforementioned tourists. This turnout marked an increase compared to previous years. Crist³vo noted the collaborative efforts with the Association of Tourist Guides and Interpreters (AGUITA) in managing the influx of tourists, who hailed from countries such as Cuba, Spain, Portugal, China, and Israel.
The presence of tourists significantly boosted hotel occupancy rates in the municipality of Dande, reaching 89 percent. Crist³vo expressed optimism for the future, anticipating that more foreign tourists will be drawn to participate in upcoming editions of the Bengo Carnival.
During the event, a food court comprising 100 vendor stalls was established to cater to the large number of revelers. This initiative resulted in a substantial business volume exceeding 20 million kwanzas, reflecting a positive impact on the food service sector.
In the Carnival competitions, the Unio Jovens Independentes do Kingungo group from Dande municipality emerged victorious in both the children’s and adult categories.
