Capricorn Foundation Enhances Pediatric Care in Omaheke with Infusion Pump Donation

GOBABIS, NAMIBIA — The Capricorn Foundation has donated 10 infusion pumps, valued at N.dollars 264,500, to the Gobabis State Hospital Pediatric Ward, significantly bolstering its capacity to treat malnourished children.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Coordinator of the Capricorn Foundation, during an interview with Nampa on Tuesday, the donation aims to improve healthcare delivery and nutritional outcomes for children in the region. This year alone, Namibia has recorded approximately 2,000 cases of malnutrition, with 300 of those in the Omaheke Region from January to June 2024. The foundation’s visit to the Gobabis State Hospital in March helped them assess the urgent needs and malnutrition status in the area, prompting this critical support.

The infusion pumps are part of a larger initiative by the Capricorn Foundation to combat health issues in Namibia, especially those stemming from malnutrition. Prior efforts include a donation of nutritional and protein-rich food items in February, in collaboration with the Nutrition and Food Security Alliance of Namibia (NAFSAN), valued at N.dollars 291,000.

Governor Pijoo Nganate of the Omaheke Region expressed profound gratitude for the foundation’s contribution, highlighting the acute challenges posed by drought and food insecurity in the area. He emphasized the importance of such collaborative efforts in safeguarding the health of the region’s most vulnerable children at a critical time.
