Windhoek: The Capricorn Foundation has committed N.dollars 2 million to fighting hunger and malnutrition in Namibia.
According to Namibia Press Agency,the foundation announced N.dollars 600,000 will support the Gondwana Meal4Two Programme, which provides nutritional meals nationwide, while N.dollars 1.4 million is allocated to Genesis Namibia to address malnutrition in the Omaheke Region. Quintin Hartung, Environmental and Social Impact Manager at Gondwana, expressed gratitude for the foundation’s partnership, emphasizing its critical role in funding meals and establishing sustainable gardens to empower communities.
Genesis Namibia also expressed appreciation for the Capricorn Foundation’s dedication to child nutrition in Namibia. Managing Director Riaan van Zyl highlighted the collaboration with the Omaheke Governor’s Office and local communities, which extends beyond meal delivery to provide hope and dignity to vulnerable children.
In 2024, a pilot project initiated by the Capricorn Foundation with Genesis Namibia targeted 500 children, backed by an initial N.dollars 565,500. The success of this initiative led to an additional commitment of N.dollars 849,540 to assist 1,000 malnourished children in the region. In total, the foundation pledged N.dollars 1.4 million to Genesis Namibia.
Founded by the Capricorn Group in February 2020, the Capricorn Foundation has invested N.dollars 40 million in corporate social responsibility initiatives.
