Capricorn Asset Management Surpasses N.dollars 63 Billion in Assets

Windhoek: Capricorn Asset Management, a subsidiary of the Capricorn Group, has grown to become Namibia's largest asset manager, with assets under management exceeding N.dollars 63 billion.

According to Namibia Press Agency, this was revealed by Capricorn Group Chief Executive Officer, David Nujoma, during a recent interview where he highlighted the scale and significance of the institution within the local financial sector. "Capricorn Asset Management is the largest asset management company in Namibia, by far, with assets of 63 billion," he said.

Nujoma noted that the bulk of the assets under management are derived from individual client investments, reflecting strong public trust and sustained confidence in the company's investment capabilities. "Mind you, it is mostly individual money that we invest on behalf of clients," he said.

He added that the asset manager's size places it significantly ahead of its closest competitors in the market, with others managing less than half of its portfolio value.

The growth of Capricorn Asset Management forms part of the broader expansion of the Capricorn Group, whose total assets currently stand at approximately N.dollars 73 billion. The group's portfolio includes banking operations such as Bank Windhoek and Bank Gaborone, as well as investments in telecommunications and financial services.

Nujoma said the group's diversified structure has enabled it to strengthen its market position while responding to evolving economic conditions. The asset management division plays a critical role in mobilising domestic savings and channelling investments into the economy, supporting both financial sector stability and long-term growth.

Nujoma further indicated that the group is exploring opportunities in digital finance and technology-driven services to sustain growth and remain competitive in a rapidly changing financial landscape. "The future is digital, it is technology, and we cannot ignore that," he said.

He emphasised that maintaining client trust and delivering consistent returns remain central to the group's strategy, particularly in a market where investment performance and credibility are key differentiators.

The growth trajectory of Capricorn Asset Management underscores the increasing sophistication of Namibia's financial sector and the rising role of institutional investors in driving economic development.
