Cambodia’s Fuel Imports Reach 1.63 Billion USD in First Eight Months of 2025

Phnom penh: Cambodia's total import of diesel fuel, gasoline, and combustion gas amounted to 1.63 billion U.S. dollars in the first eight months of 2025, a Ministry of Commerce's report showed on Friday. The value was down 13.3 percent from 1.88 billion dollars over the same period last year, the report said.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the kingdom spent 877 million dollars for importing diesel fuel, marking a decrease of 12.8 percent. Additionally, 529 million dollars were spent on gasoline, reflecting a decline of 19 percent. In contrast, the expenditure on combustion gas saw a slight increase of 1.7 percent, totaling 225 million dollars.

Cambodia currently relies entirely on imports for its oil and gas needs as its seabed's oil reserves have yet to be exploited. The Ministry of Mines and Energy has projected that the demand for oil and gas products in Cambodia will rise to 4.8 million tons by 2030, up from 2.8 million tons in 2020.
