Phnom penh: Cambodia exported garments, textiles, shoes, and travel goods worth a total of 13.6 billion U.S. dollars in the first ten months of 2025, marking a year-on-year rise of 20 percent, said an official report on Friday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, garments valued at 9.62 billion dollars were exported during the January-October period of this year, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 20.3 percent. The report compiled by the Ministry of Commerce also highlighted that textiles worth 564 million dollars were shipped to international markets, witnessing an increase of 38.7 percent.

Additionally, footwear exports amounted to 1.73 billion dollars, up 30 percent, while travel goods and bags equivalent to 1.7 billion dollars were sold to international markets, registering a growth of 5.8 percent. The garment, textile, footwear, and travel goods industry remains the largest foreign exchange earner for the Southeast Asian country.

The sector comprises more than 1,500 factories and branches, employing over 900,000 workers, predominantly women, as reported by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training. Thong Mengdavid, a lecturer at the Institute for International Studies and Public Policy of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, commented on the growth, indicating Cambodia's successful market diversification beyond its traditional partners.

"This upward trend is likely to continue into 2026, supported by external demand and new investment inflows from China, South Korea, and Japan," he told Xinhua.
