Poipet: The three-day Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) secretariat meeting over border issues concluded without reaching any consensus, according to a Cambodian defense spokesperson. According to Namibia Press Agency, the meeting took place at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint, located between Cambodia's Banteay Meanchey province and Thailand's Sa Kaeo province. It was conducted between Cambodia's 5th Military Region and Thailand's 1st Army Area with the ASEAN Observer Team present. Maly Socheata, a spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense, stated in a press release that both parties have yet to find common ground. However, they have agreed to return to their respective headquarters to continue exchanging documents and negotiating until a consensus is achieved. Socheata also mentioned that once a consensus is reached, there will be a formal Cambodia-Thailand RBC meeting and a signing ceremony between Cambodia's 5th Military Region and Thailand's 1st Army Area. This meeting follows the agreement between Cambodia and Thailand for an immediate ceasefire on December 27, 2025, after a three-week period of armed conflict that resulted in casualties on both sides.
