Cambodia Sees 13.3% Increase in International Tourist Arrivals in January

Phnom Penh: Cambodia recorded 611,894 foreign visitors in January, reflecting a 13.3 percent increase compared to the same month last year, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Thailand led the list of countries with the most visitors to Cambodia, followed by Vietnam and China. Tourism is a critical component of Cambodia’s economy, alongside garment exports, agriculture, and real estate and construction.



Tourism Minister Huot Hak expressed optimism for the future, stating, “For 2025, we hope the number of international tourists to Cambodia will increase to between 7.2 million and 7.5 million.” In 2024, Cambodia welcomed 6.7 million foreign visitors, generating a gross revenue of 3.63 billion U.S. dollars and contributing approximately 9.4 percent to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP).
