Cambodia Maintains Growth Forecast at 6.3 Pct for 2025: PM

Phnom Penh: Cambodia retained its economic growth projection at 6.3 percent in 2025, up from 6 percent in 2024, the country's Prime Minister Hun Manet announced on Tuesday. The Southeast Asian nation's economy is primarily supported by exports in garment, footwear, and travel goods, alongside contributions from tourism, agriculture, and the real estate and construction sectors.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Hun Manet highlighted in his opening speech at the Cambodia Outlook Conference 2025 that this year's growth will be driven by the exports of both garment and non-garment manufacturing products. Additionally, there is an anticipated rise in the tourism sector and services, coupled with a steady increase in the agricultural sector. The prime minister noted that while real estate and construction are expected to see growth this year, it will be at a slow pace.

Furthermore, Hun Manet stated that the kingdom's economy is predicted to grow by around 6.5 percent annually in the medium term. Supporting this outlook, Hong Vanak, director of the international economics department at the International Relations Institute of Cambodia under the Royal Academy of Cambodia, emphasized the importance of regional and bilateral free trade agreements. "These free trade pacts have provided Cambodia with access to a huge market of approximately 2.3 billion people," he told Xinhua.
