Baku: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sanctioned the joint bid proposal by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, collectively known as the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). This announcement was made by the Nigerien Football Federation (FENIFOOT) in a recent statement.

According to Burkina Information Agency, FENIFOOT communicated to the national public and football enthusiasts that CAF has officially recognized the declaration of interest from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to host the prestigious tournament. The acceptance of their bid marks a significant milestone in the AES countries' efforts to bring the continental competition to their region.

A pivotal meeting was convened on July 18, 2026, in New York, USA, as disclosed by FENIFOOT. This meeting involved the CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsep, alongside the Presidents of the Football Federations from the three bidding countries-Colonel Oumarou Sawadogo of Burkina Faso, Mahazou Cisset of Mali, and Issaka Adamou of Niger. Also present was Colonel-Major Djibrilla Huma Hamidou, a FIFA Council member and honorary president of FENIFOOT.

The successful completion of these preliminary steps allows the AES countries to advance in the official process of securing the rights to organize the 2032 AFCON, bringing them one step closer to hosting the renowned football event.
