Cacongo: Two hundred tonnes of rice were produced during the first half of this year, on an experimental basis, in the municipality of Cacongo, Cabinda province.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the municipal administrator of Cacongo, Armando de Carmo, revealed this development while speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of the business forum as part of Expo-Cabinda/2025. The rice cultivation initiative was spearheaded by the agricultural co-operative "Olhos no Futuro" (Eyes on the Future), located in the village of Tungo.
Armando de Carmo emphasized that the Cacongo Municipal Administration aims to attract more investors to engage in large-scale rice production within the district, building on the success of this pilot project. The project yielded satisfactory results due to the fertile soils found in the municipality of Cacongo.
The official further mentioned that farmers in Cacongo are actively working to diversify their crops to contribute to the economic stability of the municipality. Cacongo is an agriculturally rich area, with cassava, bananas, maize, beans, and cocoa among its most produced products.
