Luanda: Angolan Minister of Energy and Water Joo Batista Borges announced that the seat of the municipality of Cabo Ledo and the tourist area of Sangano will be connected to the public electricity grid by the end of this year. The announcement was made during a visit to sector projects in the province of Icolo and Bengo.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Minister emphasized the importance of electrifying these areas to support the growing commercial and tourist activity and the increasing population flow. He confirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that Cabo Ledo and Sangano have access to public electricity by the end of the year.
The Minister also outlined plans for photovoltaic systems as part of broader energy projects. These systems are set to be implemented in Qui§ama municipality, benefiting 1,000 families across 10 villages. The provincial government is responsible for this project and has completed all necessary administrative procedures to commence work.
Additionally, Joo Baptista Borges discussed the ongoing electrification project for the future Basilica of Muxima in Qui§ama, which will proceed following the completion of demining along the proposed electricity grid route.
During his visit to Icolo and Bengo province, the Minister assessed various infrastructure projects, including a water supply system in Quilonga Grande, a water distribution center in Catete, and the Quiminha and Cabo Ledo section. He also visited the site designated for the photovoltaic energy project in Qui§ama.
The province of Icolo e Bengo, which is administratively separate from Luanda, has its headquarters in Catete. It consists of seven municipalities and 11 communes, with an estimated population of 131,268 inhabitants spread across an area of 3,819 square kilometers.
