Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria Outlines Public Accountability Measures and Expansion of Huduma Centers

Nairobi — Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Moses Kuria unveiled his vision for enhancing public accountability and service delivery.

According to Kenya News Agency, the focus will be on taking different ministries directly to the public where they can field questions from citizens. He emphasized the need for public service to be accountable to the people, rather than ministries evaluating themselves.

Kuria expressed disappointment that government ministries and agencies have overly focused on implementing the Head of State’s priorities, sometimes at the expense of other public concerns. “We will ensure things are done right, whether they are on the priority list of our bosses or not,” Kuria promised. To make government services more accessible, he committed to increasing the number of Huduma centers from the current 52 to at least 1000 nationwide during his tenure.
