Addis Ababa: Business Insider Africa has listed Ethiopia as one of the top 10 African countries with the lowest cost of diesel in November based on data from GlobalPetrolPrices.com. The report highlights the significant impact of energy costs, particularly diesel, on the economies of several African countries. For many nations on the continent, affordable energy is crucial for economic stability.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, lower diesel prices in Africa fuel economic growth and development in key sectors such as manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture by reducing operating costs. Diesel remains the primary energy source in many African countries, especially those struggling to establish robust infrastructure for cleaner and more sustainable energy options.

Access to affordable diesel provides much-needed stability and financial relief to individuals and businesses, particularly in countries with low purchasing power. The global average price of diesel is currently 1.17 U.S. dollars per liter,
a slight decrease from the previous month’s 1.19 U.S. dollars per liter.

With the decline in the global average price of diesel, countries like Angola, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and Gabon have also seen a slight reduction in their diesel prices for November compared to the previous month. In contrast, Nigeria and Ghana experienced price increases, while diesel prices in Libya, Algeria, Egypt, and Sudan remained unchanged.

The top 10 African countries with the lowest diesel costs in November are Libya, Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Gabon, and Ghana.
