Ouagadougou: The Minister of Communication, Gilbert Pingdwend© Ou©draogo, expressed his satisfaction on Tuesday as students from the "Komsilga A" school sang the national anthem in Moor©. He highlighted the importance of promoting national languages and encouraged educators to instill values of discipline and work, as emphasized by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation. The Minister of Basic Education, Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, and the Minister of Communication, Gilbert Pingdwend© Ou©draogo, took part in a flag-raising ceremony at Komsilga A school. The students' rendition of the national anthem in Moor© was a significant moment for the Minister of Communication, who expressed pride in the promotion of national languages within educational settings.
Minister Ou©draogo underscored the importance of basic education as the foundation for creating a new type of Burkinabe citizen, emphasizing discipline and order. He noted that this third-term school return aligned with the first phase of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation, during which the Head of State's message was delivered to students, urging them to remain disciplined and diligent as future citizens.
The Minister also encouraged all Burkinabe to learn the nation's foundational elements in their native languages, starting with the country's motto. Meanwhile, Antarest Batiana, PDS of the commune of Komsilga, emphasized the initiative's role in affirming the desire to preserve and promote cultural heritage, allowing children to grow rooted in their values while engaging with the world.
Batiana further emphasized that wearing Faso Dan Fani as the official school uniform is more than a clothing choice; it symbolizes identity, craftsmanship, and national pride. By donning the Faso Dan Fani, students become custodians of ancestral heritage, embodying values of dignity, respect, and solidarity, sending a strong message to future generations.
The 2nd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation (JEPPC) is set to take place from March 26 to April 9, 2025, under the theme: "For order and discipline: I commit myself."
