Koudougou: Burkinabe Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo issued a stern warning to companies involved in public works, emphasizing that the government will not tolerate substandard workmanship on construction projects for the people of Burkina Faso. His remarks came during the inauguration of the 42 km Sakoinse-Koudougou section of national road No. 14, which had to be redone due to early deterioration.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of executing contracts with precision, as the resources utilized are the result of the people’s hard work. “A poorly executed contract is not a matter of repair, it must be redone, because the resources are the fruit of the people’s labor,” Ouedraogo declared, stressing that the government would not accept any poor workmanship.
Ouedraogo also underlined the government’s responsibility in managing borrowed funds, asserting that strategic infrastructure projects demand utmost seriousness since the financial burden ultimately falls on the people of Burkina Faso. He urged public cooperation in preserving road infrastructure by adhering to traffic regulations to prevent “tragedies on a beautiful road like this.”
Infrastructure Minister Adama Sorgho praised the achievements as “two milestone victories” and symbolic of a rebuilding Burkina Faso. He applauded the ACIT Design and Control Office for their expertise, which compelled the government to insist on the complete resumption of rehabilitation work. He also commended the Tunisian company SOUROUBAT for its strong sense of duty and adherence to contractual obligations.
Adama Jean Yves Bere, governor of the Centre-West region, expressed gratitude towards all contributors, notably the President of Faso, for his vision of a resilient and dignified Burkina Faso. Bere noted that the road’s completion enhances mobility, security, and trade in the region.
