Burkinabè President Hails Mali’s Victory in Kidal as a Boost for Sahel Anti-Terrorism Efforts

Ouagadougou – The capture of Kidal by the Malian army on Tuesday has been hailed by Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, as a significant step forward in the Sahel region’s battle against terrorism. This strategic victory is seen as a boost for the sovereign states in the region combating terrorist threats.

According to Burkina Information Agency, he expressed his delight over the liberation of Kidal by the Malian Armed Forces, acknowledging the bravery and resolve of the Malian people and forces. He commended the President of the Malian Transition, Colonel Assimi GOITA, for his leadership and vision in achieving a free and sovereign Mali.

President Traoré emphasized that this victory strengthens the belief that the liberation struggle of Sahel states is crucial and winnable. He expressed confidence that in solidarity, the member countries of the African Economic and Social Council (AES) would triumph over terrorism, paving the way for development initiatives that would benefit the people of the region.
