Burkinabe Journalist Mariam Ouédraogo Nominated for Prestigious RSF Prize.

Ouagadougou: Mariam Ouédraogo, a journalist with the state-run daily Sidwaya, has been nominated for the 32nd edition of the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) prize, scheduled for December 3, 2024, in Washington, in the category of African investigative journalism – Mohamed Maïga.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the 32nd edition of the RSF Press Freedom Prize includes five distinctions: the Courage Prize, the Impact Prize, the Independence Prize, as well as, since 2023, the Lucas Dolega – SAIF Photo Prize and the African Investigative Journalism Prize – Mohamed Maïga. The African Investigative Journalism Prize – Mohamed Maïga aims to honor the memory of the Malian investigative journalist Mohamed Maïga and to perpetuate the humanist fight that he led with his pen in favor of social justice in Africa, until his death, explain the organizers.

This prize, awarded by the Mohamed Maïga association in collaboration with RSF, will reward “the exemplary work of an African investigative journalist, working on
themes dear to Mohamed Maïga, notably human rights, the environment, education and the right to information,” they add.

Mariam Ouédraogo, named best female journalist in Burkina in 2023, is the winner of several national and international awards.
