Burkinabè Innovators Successfully Test Motorized Tillers for Agricultural Use

HAUTS BASSINS — Two motorized tiller prototypes, developed by Atelier Demé Karim and Atelier forge nature, have successfully passed their testing phase, marking a significant advancement in agricultural machinery tailored for rural stakeholders.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the tests were conducted at the Matourkou agricultural training school on August 8. The tillers, which are designed for multiple farming operations such as plowing, sowing, hilling, and weeding, were praised for their practicality and suitability in aiding rural agricultural activities. The technical manager of the Project to Strengthen the Modernization of Agricultural Mechanization (PR2MA) lauded the innovators for their work and encouraged them to further refine their designs. Additionally, they were urged to incorporate feedback from the Research Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (IRSAT) and agricultural producers to enhance the efficiency and applicability of their inventions.

This development represents a crucial step forward in the mechanization of agriculture in Burkina Faso, aiming to increase productivity and ease the labor demands on farmers.
