Burkinabe Government Cracks Down on Qnet’s Pyramid Sales Activities

Ouagadougou – The Burkinabe government has issued a ban on all activities of Qnet across the country until further notice, citing concerns over pyramid sales schemes that exploit the public with unrealistic profit promises.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the decision was announced on Wednesday following observations of increasing network sales activities by Qnet representatives. These activities, described as pyramid sales, involve offering products and services accompanied by unrealistic and flattering promises of gains, leading to illicit enrichment at the expense of the population.

The government’s press release stated that these illegal activities pose real risks, prompting the immediate prohibition of Qnet’s pyramid selling activities nationwide. The ban is effective from the date of the press release and will remain in place until further notice. Additionally, the government has warned the public to exercise caution and vigilance against growing scam incidents.

Violators of the ban are subject to sanctions under the current regulations. The government has expressed its expectation for cooperation and understanding from all parties to adhere to the press release’s terms. For reporting non-compliance, the public can contact toll-free numbers: 80 00 11 84/85/86.

The initiative involves key government officials including Ministers of Commerce Serge Poda, Territorial Administration Émile Zerbo, and Economy Aboubakar Nacanabo, reflecting a concerted effort to protect citizens and maintain regulatory oversight of commercial activities.
