Burkinabè Expatriates in Turkey Contribute Over 6 Million CFA Francs to National Peace Fund

ANKARA — The Burkinabè community in Turkey has collectively raised 6,405,743 CFA francs to support their homeland’s peace efforts, as part of a broader patriotic initiative.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the substantial donation was announced during a check presentation ceremony held on Friday, August 23. The funds were contributed under the Patriotic Support Fund, responding to a call from Burkinabè Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. “This gesture is part of the appeal of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. This support was initiated at the beginning of 2024 and symbolizes our attachment to the motherland, but also our desire to contribute to the efforts for a more promising future,” stated Mohammed Dabo, a spokesperson for the Burkinabè community in Turkey.

Foreign Minister Jean Marie Karamoko Traoré acknowledged the donation as a significant mobilization of resources crucial for addressing the nation’s challenges. “It’s a real pleasure to receive this gesture. By making this donation, you demonstrate that the call of the Head of State was heard in the four corners of Turkey and that it was understood. On behalf of the entire government, the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, I reiterate our gratitude to the Burkinabè community living in Turkey,” he expressed.

The funds are expected to bolster government efforts in mobilizing resources for the country’s fighting forces and financing public policies aimed at national recovery and sovereignty.
