Ouagadougou - The Minister in charge of Energy, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, stated Thursday that the Burkinabè Energy Council (CBE) constitutes a crucial element in the governance of the energy sector.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the council, which has recently been established, will strengthen the entities operating in the energy sector. "The council will be one of the essential links in the governance of the energy sector," he declared during the first assembly of the Burkinabè Energy Council in Ouagadougou. He expressed hope that the debates could lead to recommendations and resolutions that will support the ministry in governing the energy sector.
Burkina Faso's energy sector has faced significant challenges, including insufficient electricity supply and frequent power cuts. "This situation challenges us all as we seek reliable solutions. We need the support of private and public actors to meet the enormous challenges facing the energy sector," Gouba added.
Baba Ahmed Coulibaly, president of the Burkinabè Energy Council, indicated that his organization would implement mechanisms to better serve the country. "Our vocation is to provide advice to the government. We must regularly produce reports on all aspects and make publications," he said. Created in 2023, the Burkinabè Energy Council aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the energy sector in its various components.
