Ouagadougou: The Faso Landa association organized the 6th edition of the Night of the Burkini in Treviso, Italy, to promote Burkinabe culture and celebrate the diaspora. During the ceremony, the association’s president, Jean-Baptiste Boro, praised the commitment of President Ibrahim Traore, a leader within the African diaspora in Italy.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was themed “Promotion and enhancement of Burkinabe culture internationally (Tribute to the Burkinabe diaspora)” and paid tribute to the Burkinabe community living abroad while supporting social projects in Burkina Faso. It took place on October 18, 2025, at the Istrana Hall in Treviso.
The event was under the patronage of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, and co-sponsored by Maxime Sawadogo (CEO of ACME), El Hadj Ousmane Toguim Gouba (CEO of Gouba Pissa Gnassou Koum SGPPK), and Adja Ramatoulaye Ouedraogo Coulibaly. The evening included artistic performances, speeches, and distinctions.
Traditional figures and businessmen attended as guests of honor, including His Majesty Naaba Zaanre, Chief of Wangala, Naaba Youga, Naaba Tigre II, Alizeta Koanda, Master Boureima Fidele Loure, and Martin Masse. The event featured several prominent figures from Burkina Faso and the diaspora who praised the initiative. Trophies and certificates were presented to Burkinabe citizens for their contributions to the country’s culture and development.
Jean-Baptiste Boro dedicated a trophy to President Ibrahim Traore for his actions in favor of Burkina Faso and Africa, highlighting recognition from the Burkinabe diaspora. “We, the Burkinabe diaspora in Italy, pay tribute to President Ibrahim Traore by dedicating a trophy to him for his work in favor of Burkina Faso and Africa,” he said.
El Hadj Gouba encouraged the Burkinabe diaspora in Italy to invest more in Burkina Faso, praising the government’s industrialization efforts. Adja Ramatoulaye Ouedraogo Coulibaly expressed her willingness to support the initiative.
Christophe Kourita Lankoande, delegate of the High Council of Burkinabe of Northern Italy, invited the association’s leaders to support projects like the Patriotic Support Fund or Faso Mebo, established by President Ibrahim Traore. Unfortunately, several invited personalities could not participate due to visa difficulties. President Boro appealed to Burkinabe authorities to facilitate visas and advocated for opening a consulate in Italy.
A fundraiser was held to support vulnerable people in Burkina Faso. Jean-Baptiste Boro explained the initiative aimed to improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged. The evening featured Burkinabe artists such as Malika la Slamazone, Princesse Fina, Axelle Kidann, and comedian Djo le Rapide, alongside Italian artists, offering a cultural mix.
