Ouagadougou: The Association 'Two hours for us, two hours for Kamita' has urged the Burkinabe people and authorities to emulate Venezuela's approach in their pursuit of sovereignty and liberation from imperialism's grip. With a history of 25 years resisting external control, the organization recommends adopting Venezuelan ideology, as stated by the association's coordinator, Serge Imhotep Bayala.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Bayala addressed the media on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after returning from a mission to Venezuela. He highlighted an opportunity extended by Venezuelan President Nicol¡s Maduro, who, during his inauguration on January 10, 2024, expressed intentions to visit Burkina Faso, acknowledging the shared struggles of both nations.
Bayala emphasized the importance of seizing this opportunity to strengthen ties between the two countries. He noted that the Venezuelan model of governance ensures that even basic state positions require adherence to the Bolivarian revolution, viewing technocrats as resources that support liberal democracy.
In resource management, Bayala cited former Venezuelan President Hugo Ch¡vez's policy, which allocated 99% of oil and gas exploitation rights to the Venezuelan people, leaving only 1% for multinationals. He called for similar bold actions in Burkina Faso's mining sector, asserting that the country's underground wealth belongs to its people, not foreign entities.
The association also sees potential for cultural cooperation, drawing parallels between the revolutionary histories of Ouagadougou and Caracas. Bayala stressed the role of culture in making revolutionary ideals resonate with the people, urging Burkina Faso to reclaim its cultural narrative from imperialistic influences and to invest in it as part of the liberation movement.
