Ouagadougou: The young Burkinabe singer-songwriter and beatmaker Damssi 32GB has made a bold statement with the release of his new single "Tond Zaabre," which he presented on Saturday. The song pays tribute to the country's fighting forces and calls out those who are unwilling to join the struggle for Burkina Faso's liberation, urging them to "get the hell out."
According to Burkina Information Agency, Damssi 32GB, born Adama Sere, has chosen to begin his official music career amid significant security challenges in Burkina Faso. His debut single emphasizes the bravery and resolve of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). The track, titled 'Tond Zaabre,' translates to 'our fight' in French and is accompanied by an urban music video produced by Yirviel Production.
Damssi 32GB expressed that the fighters are "our brothers who are fighting day and night," and stressed the importance of supporting and encouraging them. For him, being Burkinabe means prioritizing the homeland above all else, and there is no justification for refusing to support these fighters.
Having been born in Ouagadougou, Damssi 32GB developed a passion for dance and music at a young age, gaining recognition through school activities and public performances. In addition to his musical endeavors, he trained as a professional hairdresser, which has contributed to his discipline, rigor, and community spirit-key influences in his musical journey.
The music video for "Tond Zaabre" is currently available on all major online platforms, including YouTube.
