Burkinabè Army Neutralizes Terrorist Convoy in Eastern Region

TIASSERI — In a strategic military operation on Saturday, January 27, 2024, the Burkinabè army successfully targeted and destroyed two pickup trucks carrying terrorists and ammunition in the Eastern Region, between Tiasseri and Soam. This decisive action thwarted a potential attack against the Combatant Forces.

According to Burkina Information Agency, based on secure sources, the Burkinabè army’s radars detected the terrorist convoy on the Tiasseri-Soam axis. Anticipating an imminent attack, the army took proactive measures. Around 9:30 am, air vectors of the army launched a missile strike on the lead pickup truck, causing it to overturn and crash with its occupants. The second vehicle, in an attempt to evade, crashed into a tree alongside the track.

The operation did not end there. A subsequent targeted strike was promptly executed, destroying the second vehicle. The first vehicle, believed to be carrying ammunition, caught fire and was completely incinerated. Although some terrorists initially survived and attempted to flee the scene, an attack helicopter was deployed, successfully neutralizing all escapees.

This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts of the Combatant Forces to reclaim and maintain territorial integrity in the region. The Burkinabè army continues its vigilant search and security operations throughout the eastern zone to prevent further terrorist activities.
