Burkinabè Army Neutralizes Dozens of Terrorists in Coordinated Strikes Across Séno

SÉNO – In a series of coordinated military operations on March 8, the Burkinabè army successfully neutralized several dozen terrorists in Touka, located in the Dori area of Séno.

According to Burkina Information Agency, these actions are part of a broader campaign against terrorist forces that have also seen successes in the areas of Barsalgho (north-center) and the Nouaho forest (east-center).

Security sources report that the Burkinabè armed forces have been active in reclaiming territories and thwarting terrorist activities throughout the region. Specifically, on the afternoon of March 8, 2024, a gathering of terrorists in Touka, planning an attack under the cover of trees, was decimated by a precision missile strike launched by air carriers. The attack resulted in the immediate combustion of the area, with some fleeing terrorists collapsing nearby due to the intensity of the explosion.

Furthermore, the military’s operations on the same day, notably significant as it was dedicated to women, were aimed at ensuring the safe return of internally displaced persons (IDPs), predominantly women, to their homes. In a notable operation around 6 pm, military radar detected approximately a hundred terrorists moving toward Wambsouya, about twenty kilometers north of Barsalgho. The terrorists, planning to congregate in an orchard for an imminent attack and reinforced by additional forces on motorcycles, were preemptively struck by a powerful missile, leading to substantial casualties and the destruction of their ammunition in a consequent blaze.

Earlier in the week, on March 5, 2024, the army had also engaged terrorist groups in the East Central zone, near the Nouaho forest. A meeting of terrorists, again on motorcycles and planning an assault, was abruptly ended by a missile strike that obliterated the assembly and their resources.

These operations mark a significant step in the Burkinabè military’s efforts to combat terrorism and restore peace and stability to the affected regions, allowing displaced populations to return to their homes safely.
