Ouagadougou – In a decisive military operation, the Burkinabè army carried out a series of successful offensives against terrorist groups in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information New Agency, aerial forces cleared a terrorist base in the Boucle du Mouhoun region on Monday, resulting in significant casualties among the terrorists.
On the night of November 12 to 13, 2023, around 2 am, the Burkinabè army initiated an operation in the Boucle du Mouhoun after receiving intelligence on the presence of terrorists. They identified a terrorist base approximately ten kilometers from Toéni. Following continuous surveillance, the army launched an assault in the early morning. The operation was highly effective, eliminating nearly all members of the terrorist group, with only one briefly escaping before succumbing to injuries. The base was left with only stolen livestock remaining.
Similarly, on the morning of November 13, 2023, on the Bourzanga-Kongoussi axis, the Combatant Forces replicated their success. In Kourpele, terrorist elements ambushed Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP). However, the VDP, alert and prepared, managed to counter the attack effectively, forcing the terrorists to flee and leaving behind bodies, weapons, and motorcycles.
Following the ambush, air vectors were deployed. The fleeing terrorists were tracked to their base in Namsiguia. Upon their arrival, a large number of terrorists entered a building, likely to treat their wounded. A precise missile strike was executed on this building, with only a few managing to flee. Subsequent aerial efforts ensured that no terrorists escaped.
Ground units reported a significant number of terrorists killed in these operations. They also recovered various logistics left by the terrorists.
The army’s intensified operations are part of a larger strategy to pressure terrorist groups in the nation. The objective is to continue this pressure until these groups realize their only viable option is to lay down their arms and cease their activities against the state.
