OUAGADOUGOU — On Friday, October 27, 2023, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism of Burkina Faso, and his Nigerien counterpart, Guichen Aghaichata Atta, visited stands at the Ouagadougou International Craft Fair, including the special Niger country stand.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, Culture, Arts and Tourism, the ministers also toured the Mali stand and a stand featuring tourism professionals where Nigerien dishes were presented and sampled. Ouédraogo took the opportunity to emphasize the cultural ties between Burkina Faso and Niger, noting that the tour of the stands revealed not only common cultural expressions but also the alliance of identities and values between the Sahel states.

“The alliance of Sahel States is not merely a diplomatic, military, and strategic alliance. It is an alliance of people, an alliance of cultures, and an alliance of potentialities, identities, and values,” Ouédraogo said.

Niger, the guest country of honor at the special edition of SITHO-VITHRO, has a robust delegation of 36 people representing various forms of cultural and tourist expression. Aghaichata Atta, the Nigerien Minister, commended the organization of the event, expressing gratitude to the Burkinabè Minister and the organizing committee.
