Ouahigouya: The President of Bernard Lédéa Ouédraogo University, Prof. Adama Ouéda, called upon researchers and academic institutions on Saturday to make research findings more accessible to aid in the understanding and modeling of societal issues. Prof. Ouéda emphasized the importance of developing data centers to improve the predictive modeling of phenomena and societal challenges.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Prof. Ouéda highlighted the need for accessible data in fields like health and the environment, where analyzing available data is essential for making informed predictions about future developments. He noted that Burkinabe researchers often lack the practice of archiving their research for future use, which hampers data availability.
Prof. Ouéda made these comments during a press meeting in Ouahigouya on November 16, 2024, organized by the Ministry in charge of Higher Education. He pointed out the inadequate systems for preserving academic work in Burkina Faso’s universities, both public
and private.
He urged research and higher education stakeholders to improve the accessibility of scientific data for better modeling and understanding of social phenomena. Additionally, he encouraged researchers to prioritize sharing experiences and information within their academic endeavors.
