Burkina to Host P©tanque Tournament for AES Integration

Ouagadougou: The Association for Economic and Social Development in Burkina Faso (ADES/BF) announced plans for a p©tanque tournament scheduled from May 2 to 4, aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence among the member states of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).



According to Burkina Information Agency, ADES/BF has themed the event “What Synergy of Actions for a Peaceful Coexistence of the Peoples of the AES?” The tournament, part of a 72-hour series of activities, will take place in the Bassinko neighborhood, district 8 of Ouagadougou. The event aims to support the authorities in their social cohesion efforts.



The three-day program will feature a variety of activities including a p©tanque competition, culinary art contests, exhibitions of local dishes, a shopping street, musical performances, slam poetry, and comedy acts. The president of ADES/BF, Saam Naaba Boulga of Bassinko, emphasized the event’s objective to support national authorities and enhance socio-economic and cultural relations among AES countries.



Saam Naaba Boulga also announced the inaugural “Grand Tournament of Integration of the States of the AES,” highlighting its importance for mobilization and visibility to meet its goals. The event will be held under the patronage of Bassolma Bazi©, President of the AES National Commission, and will welcome participants from AES and neighboring states.



“We believe that leisure activities can significantly promote peace and social cohesion by forming positive social networks. They unite people through shared activities, fostering social bonds and relationships,” said Saam Naaba Boulga.



ADES/BF, established on April 7, 2025, is a civil society organization based in Ouagadougou. It operates as an associative, apolitical, non-denominational, and non-profit entity.
