Burkinabè Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelèm de Tambèla said on Tuesday that there is no election without security, in response to those who demand an election timetable, while the country still faces terrorist attacks.
“For me, there are no elections without security. Those who are in a hurry to go to the elections, let them help us to guarantee security as soon as possible”, indicated the Prime Minister, Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelèm de Tambèla.
The Prime Minister delivered his speech on the national situation to the deputies on Tuesday.
“We are ready to organize the elections even tomorrow if you ensure the safety of the peasants, the voters, the organizers of the elections and if you assure that there will be no disturbances”, he concluded.
Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who came to power in September 2022, has promised to respect, if the security situation allows, the July 2024 deadline set by mutual agreement with ECOWAS for the end of the Transition.
However, despite the enormous efforts of the Combatant Forces, the terrorist attacks that have been going on for eight years have not yet ceased.
