Burkina: The PUDTR invests several billion FCFA for the development of Fada N’Gourma

A government delegation laid the first stone of the multipurpose hall of Fada N’Gourma (2.7 billion FCFA) on Saturday June 10, 2023 and visited the other sites of the Emergency Project of territorial development and resilience (PUDTR), in particular the 43 km of roads (22 billion FCFA) and hospital wards.

Thanks to the Emergency Territorial Development and Resilience Project (PUDTR), the city of Fada N’Gourma will have its multipurpose hall in eighteen months, according to the deadline given to the Consulting Agency and Delegated Project Management in building and urban planning in Burkina (ACOMOD).

Indeed, construction work on this infrastructure was launched on Saturday, June 10, 2023, by a government delegation, made up of the ministers in charge of the economy, Aboubacar Nacanabo, infrastructure, Adama Luc Sorgho, higher education, Adjima Thiombiano, and transport, Anuuyirtole Roland Somda.

According to the architectural model, the building will have a capacity of 1,000 seats, or 800 for the large multipurpose room on the ground floor overlooked at R+1 by a 200-seat mezzanine. For its implementation, including monitoring and control, the World Bank and the State of Burkina Faso have mobilized approximately 2.7 billion CFA francs.

43km of gutters to clean up Fada N’Gourma

Well before the launch of the construction of the multipurpose hall, the government delegation visited, in the early morning, other investments of the PUDTR.

Indeed, in the area of sanitation, a total of 43 km of rainwater drainage channels are being built in the 11 sectors of the city of Fada N’Gourma. With a revised cost of approximately CFAF 22 billion, this sub-project mobilized eight national companies.

It is piloted by the Infrastructure Works Agency of Burkina (AGETIB). In fact, according to the Director General (DG) of AGETIB, Mathieu Lompo, 5 km of primary canals and 38 km of secondary and tertiary canals are under construction.

In addition, he said, in parallel with the construction of rainwater drainage channels, 40 km of roads, 22 km of which are covered with cobblestones and bituminous concrete, are being developed. Also, the city of Fada N’Gourma will benefit from 22 km of solar street lighting and four solar traffic lights.

To date, the physical execution rate of the works fluctuates between 80 and 90% and the works will be delivered from July 31, 2023.

In addition, the government delegation also visited the Urban Medical Center (CMU) in sector 1 of Fada N’Gourma. In this hospital, the project has built several hospital rooms, latrines-showers and an autonomous water station.

More than 66 million CFA francs for the benefit of 8 associations

In sector 2 of Fada N’Gourma, Aboubacar Nacanabo and his counterparts also visited the new Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) under construction, still within the framework of the PUDTR.

On the subject of the quality of all these infrastructures, insisted the minister in charge of higher education, Adjima Thiombiano, it is necessary to ensure it with rigor.

On the sidelines of the launch ceremony for the construction of the multipurpose hall, the PUDTR offered equipment worth 53 million CFA francs and working capital of 13 million CFA francs to eight associations in the municipality of Fada N ‘Gourma. He also handed over 10 tonnes of food to internally displaced persons (IDPs).

For “the constantly renewed confidence in Burkina Faso”, the Minister in charge of the economy, Aboubacar Nacanabo, translated the government’s recognition to the World Bank.
